Historic Miami Beach, Florida

Miami Beach, also known as SoBe and sometimes called "The Beach" is one of the most exclusive areas of Miami. It is usually included as part of Miami as a whole but Miami Beach is a city unto itself. For almost a Century this has been one of the most popular beachfront communities in the world. It is also home to some of the most historically-unique architecture in the world. The area has had its ups and downs but, since the mid-Twentieth Century, it has been consistently popular and has become a very exclusive area.

Miami Beach was officially born in 1915. It quickly became a popular beachfront community and garnered a reputation as one of the most luxurious and upscale areas of the nation. Between the 1920s and 1940s the area was the site of major development which eventually resulted in the Art Deco district of the city being erected which is now recognized as a historically-important architectural development and which is now included on the National Register of Historic Places. While the historical nature of Miami Beach is one of its most defining characteristics, it has been home to a constant influx of new residents and developments.

This beach suffered a downturn in the mid-20th century but recovered in a big way in the year since then. Today, Miami Beach enjoys a reputation as an area with a vibrant and diverse population which is generally upscale and is the preferred area of investment for real estate moguls from all over the nation and the world. The beachfront is one of the most attractive areas for this investment and is the location of numerous residential, commercial and condominium developments. Between the urban renaissance that has characterized this area since the mid-20th century and the beautiful environs, it will likely prove popular for many years to come.

Miami Beach is situated on an island a bit south of the city of Miami proper. Though it is its own municipality, it is also an important part of the larger Miami community as a whole. While the real estate in this area may be somewhat exclusive, this is not at all a closed off community where the residents feel no sense of connection to the city at large. In fact, the development of Miami Beach is intrinsically tied with the growth of Miami as a whole and has benefited the community.
